Setting out today’s grid…

A fresh free sudoku every day, in three difficulties

Each morning at midnight your time, three new puzzles appear: an easy, a medium and a hard sudoku. Everyone playing on the same date gets the same grids, so you can compare times with a friend. Every puzzle is checked by a solver before you see it to make sure it has exactly one solution, so you never have to guess.

  • Easy sudoku (about 40 givens) can be finished by filling cells that have only one possible number.
  • Medium sudoku (about 31 givens) needs hidden singles too, where a number fits only one spot in a row, column or box.
  • Hard sudoku (25–28 givens) often stalls on singles, so pencil marks, pairs and pointing pairs come into play.

Controls

Tap a cell, then a number. Turn on Notes to jot candidates in the corner of a cell; entering a number clears that candidate from the cell’s row, column and box for you. Hint doesn’t just fill a cell: it points to the next logical move and tells you why it works. Check marks any entry that disagrees with the solution. On a keyboard, arrow keys move, 1–9 fill, Backspace erases and N toggles notes.

Your progress saves in this browser as you play, so you can close the tab and finish later. Prefer paper? Print today’s three grids with answers. Stuck on a puzzle from a newspaper or app? Questions players ask

Is the daily sudoku free?

Yes. All three daily sudoku puzzles are free to play in your browser, with no account and no app to install.

When does the new sudoku come out?

A new easy, medium and hard puzzle unlocks at midnight in your own time zone. Past days are in the puzzle archive.

Does every puzzle have one solution?

Yes. Each grid is generated and then checked by a solver that confirms exactly one solution exists before it is served.

What makes a sudoku hard?

The number of givens matters less than which techniques are needed. Easy grids fall to naked singles alone; hard grids require spotting pairs or pointing candidates before singles appear.

Will I lose my progress if I close the page?

No. Your entries, notes and time are saved in this browser’s local storage for each date and difficulty. Clearing your browser data, or using the clear button on the privacy page, removes them.
